Reports from the Future: "In 2500, humanity is on the brink of the abyss, in a last attempt to save the planet Earth, the survivors of an era damn make a leap into the past of almost five hundred years, in 2050, to try to undo the mistakes that led humanity beyond the point of no return, but it is already too late. So begins the opening words of this full-bodied printed manual in the box of the game, complete with lots of pictures and a brief but accurate description of the characters, we point out this fact because right from the box (which contains, in addition to the game disc, a CD with the soundtrack), the entire production has been carefully prepared by Adventure Production, after the controversial "The Whispered World", back to talk to if with an interesting title that touches issues very delicate and very current: the energies clean, pollution and interests that revolve around this kind of business.
As mentioned a few lines above, there are about five centuries in the future, due to the intense exploitation of the planet and the resulting pollution, the Earth's magnetic field has been altered in a final and this has made the solar flares are much more dangerous than normal . To do this, we must add that in the future, or at least in the era where it moves the first of the two protagonists, particularly violent eruption is expected, which will put an end to life on Earth as we know it today. E 'for this reason that a team of scientists decided to go on a journey beyond the boundaries of time and space, to return to an era where a man, Professor Bent, is a step away from creating a completely clean energy thanks to genetic exploitation of a very particular kind of blue algae. Unfortunately, things do not go well and only three members of the group will be able to reach their destination: Salvador, Delfin and our leading lady Fay (radio-operator of the Team). The ultimate purpose of their mission is to find just the aforementioned Bent Svensson and be able to put the item on its work before the end.
The game starts right here, with Fay that will tell the professor - a playable flashback, the events that occurred in his time and the reasons which led it to him. Right from the start it will be clear that the two, while sharing the ultimate goal (that is, save the planet, a real trifle), have motivations and visions of all staff to the same goal. Fay, on the other hand, is motivated by an iron will to save the planet, but will be in the professor a beaten man, crushed by corporate interests who have done everything possible to interfere in his work. Despite this, the two must work together (in fact, you can impersonating both for the duration of the game, on and off, of course), to make sure to save the world from disaster. As you can imagine, then, the gameplay benefits from this solution, a title otherwise too similar to other games of the same genre, in addition, the developers have seen fit to include some mini-games which - if you are too hard, they will be bypassed with a simple click on the icon that appears on your screen when a given amount of time.
The game interface is similar to the dictates of the Adventure Games: everything is based on using only the mouse (well throw your keyboard, then), to which are entrusted movements, interactions, analysis and more. The inventory, rather large, it is accessible in an easy and direct: in it we find everything we need for the continuation of adventure, during which we will be called to hear (cfr.Leggere) a Fracci dialogues, combine objects and overcome puzzles sometimes not quite logical, but still exciting. In essence, therefore, the production does not differ at all from the schemas of the kind to which it belongs, but no one has ever said that this is a problem, far from it. The Lords of Adventure Productions have baked a fresh title, enjoyable, long enough to not result in ridicule, with quite serious issues that are not limited to the mere exploitation of the environment, but also and especially to the family, at work and interpersonal relationships .
On the purely technical, we are faced with a game entirely two-dimensional, with depths sometimes really beautiful, hand-drawn, has been implemented in a large number of movies that are reminiscent of a comic book, made especially to immerse the player in the plot . There is no shortage of rivers dialogue (in English) with a voice-not just high and some synchronization problem. Good counter localization in Italian, accurate and timely.
A praise to the excellent soundtrack, created by the Knights of Soundtrack, a group of German composers able to create melodies perfectly blended in production.
Like most of the games, even this is not without flaws: we found some sudden return to the desktop and on occasion there is to load a save but overall everything there 'has done quite well .
Basically, this is how: A New Beginning is an adventure full, deep, somewhat touching, well crafted, enjoyable and immersive. Recommended to absolutely everyone who loves the genre, slightly less for those approaching for the first time in this kind of games.
