Academy of Champions - Football - Wii
A boy (or girl, you name it) recapitarsi football fan sees the long-awaited call for the prestigious academy of Brightfield, whose president is none other than the immortal Brazilian player Pel?. His joy may be short-lived when, arrived at the academy, he discovers that his contract is counterfeit and the famous headmaster has never heard of him, the cause is despicable VonTrappen, dean of the Academy of Scytemore and rival of Pel?. But when the boy shows his skills, the Brazilian has no doubts and decided to validate the contract: so begins the academic career of the boy, but what will be the sinister intrigues of VonTrappen?

Academy of Champions - Football (or Soccer in the U.S. version), which promises to be the first of a series devoted to the various team sports, it is essentially a game of football, reinterpreted so as to present it in the form of a journey student: l 'Brightfield academy, in which are placed either boys and girls (... and rabbids ...) is presented in a way very similar to that of HarryPotter-iana memory, and the various lots are interspersed with training sessions, purchases at the store , attempts to engagements of players idle, test theoretical and occasional chats. For each day of the calendar (the story unfolds in four "quarters" of 20 days each), you will have more activities to be performed, and sometimes even the ability to choose what to devote.

Obviously, however, the bulk of the game will take place on the grassy field, where two teams of five players will compete last goal. We start by saying that, in style streetball, there will be no remittance from outside: every time the ball touches the bottom lines, simply bounce back into the field as if it were a wall. Combined with the total absence of fouls, substitutions or injury (enter in a slip on the foot rather than the ball will be the norm, so much for fair play), this feature will give the game a fast pace, since the only interruptions to the action will be goals scored or with parades held by the goalkeeper.

The control system according contemplates the use of Wiimote + Nunchuck, insofar as it exists a simplified system that does without the second device. You can add WiiMotionPlus to perform lobs or more steps up, but it is in no way limiting to those without. Basically, as often happens in sports games (even those "sui generis" like this), the configuration will vary depending on whether you are in possession of the ball or not. Up front you will have a key for the transition (or short, hold, cross), one for shooting and one for the dodge, you will have to defend the shot, the slide and change player.

At the top of the screen will indicate the bar of "talent", ie what we can define as the most "arcade" of the game. This bar is filled by performing steps, sliding, or generally performing maneuvers efficient, and consumed using shooting or dodging, because the use is already quite useful. When it is completely full, however, allows you to perform special moves that players are provided: these can range from a shot particularly insidious (the legendary "Cobra Effect" which comes the main character), a temporary invulnerability, one shooting lightning and everything else developers came up with. To activate these moves will be enough to shake the wiimote to appear dell'apposita icon.

To manage the conflicts, the game makes extensive use of minigames: in case of possible cross header, who will win the conflict as quickly press the A button while in the case of ball on the ground before the opponent will have to press the keys corresponding to the icons that appear from time to time on the screen. Other mini-games will provide various training sessions, ranging from shooting, slalom between obstacles in pursuit of the rabbids, defense, midfield, parades, plus a special "freestyle" for owners of BalanceBoard. These minigames will have the primary purpose of increasing scores "potential" of the protagonist, while increasing the "Realised" values ??of the various players have to spend the experience points earned. Other prizes consist of the money for the purchase of equipment and the "star talent" needed to unlock special abilities.

The graphic design is quite simple, but it is a title essentially cartonoso is sufficient to the task and is still dotted with small refinements that can not make it nice. Apart from the models, rather than simplified, it is good to look at the field: in almost all (except just what Brightfield), for each goal scored will build a part of the bottom, thus becoming richer as the game continues . The special effects are also simple, but well made.

The framing tends to keep the ball in the center of the screen and on the bottom the opponent's goal, but unfortunately, you can not see well the arrangement of players on the field, and sometimes it is swept by unpredictable opponents. Paradoxically, things improve in Multiplayer, when the camera switches to a neutral view from the edge of the center field (type commentator). The sound uses musichine cheerful and tuned to the various fields of play (Brazilian, American, Caribbean, etc.), while the voiceovers are limited to mumble a funny character: they think the lyrics to manage dialogues.

Become familiar with the system of control is a matter of one or two games (after all, we are talking about only manage three buttons), but you will need a minimum of attention, especially during the first few games, thanks to a team with values ??lowly and without special skills. Soon also start the games, "strange", of minefields or against opponents from special abilities. Later, with practice, things get easier, and even become TOO easy when you start to have available to players over-pumped with skills absurd playing without too much effort you finish the story mode for the first time after five to six hours of play to win the final 6-1 (we did).

On the other hand, the organization of events on the calendar, there met: Whereas many players require special equipment to be hired, it makes no sense to put the store AFTER the bookings, and these other AFTER the workout. Sometimes, before you can deploy a player, where even wait a whole week, just because events are ordered in a senseless manner. This certainly invites you to replay the story again after ending it (at which point you have all the requirements to employ and little you are interested to pump), but the games become just a boring repetition of the absurd results.

In short, unless you want to complete the game 100%, resulting in all-star talent (the last is obtained at the 99 th victory) and pumping all players to their limits, presumably after a week, you will not find bigger stimulus and even if there is still the lack of online multiPlayer and the presence of team-Taboo (due to the unbalanced characters) makes essentially the longevity of the Achilles' heel of the game. Game, however, manages to entertain young and old alike, and as a first experiment bodes well for the future.

This first Academy of Champions (because the concept suggests that will be used for other sports) certainly is not intended to be a realistic game of football, but rather a title very carefree and built on a very "cartoon". The result is undoubtedly cute, lively and fun, although some choice in the management of events is at least debatable. Above all, unfortunately, the gaming experience is quite short (unless you want to win the famous 99 games), and the lack of an Online mode also limits the fun MultiPlayer. Regardless, though, a nice title and honest, dedicated to children and adults.
